The Centre Chef shops weekly to ensure all produce is seasonal and fresh and all meals are prepared on site. The menu has been developed to provide children with 50% of their daily nutritional needs, and meals reflect the delicious cultural diversity in our community. The five food groups are represented in the menu including breads and cereals, seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables, red meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy.
We provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, dessert, afternoon tea and late afternoon tea. We welcome familiy’s suggestions and recipes during the menu review process. Sharing meals and snacks are important social experiences, and we view these as intimate opportunities for interaction and conversation. Children will be encouraged to try their food but NEVER forced to eat. We will speak to families if we have any concerns about a child’s eating and drinking.
The seasonal weekly/monthly menu is available for viewing daily in the foyer. We offer 2 alternative menus that complement the existing menu for families that require Halal or Vegetarian foods. If a child has any dietary requirements such as allergies, intolerances, preferences, food restrictions or anaphylaxis, families are required to advise the Nominated Supervisor and/or provide a Management Plan from the child’s doctor if applicable. We will endeavour to make necessary arrangements to accommodate this need. A copy of foods and menu plans needs to be supplied to our Chef educator. All educators and visitors are made aware of food allergies and Management Plans.
